Welcome to Blue Moon Smooth Fox Terriers, a fresh and enthusiastic kennel dedicated to breeding and raising top-quality Smooth Fox Terriers. As a new venture launched in 2025, our experience is rooted in a profound passion for this iconic breed, often hailed as the “gentleman of the terrier world” for their spirited, gregarious nature and devil-may-care attitude. With origins tracing back to 19th-century England, Smooth Fox Terriers were bred for fox hunting and vermin control, blending intelligence, energy, and loyalty into a compact, athletic package. At Blue Moon Smooth Fox Terriers, we aim to honor this heritage while focusing on modern, responsible breeding to produce healthy, versatile dogs that shine as family companions, show stars, or performance athletes.

Our Story

Our story began in 2012 when we welcomed our first Smooth Fox Terrier, Delilah, into our home as a gift for our daughter. From that moment, we fell deeply in love with the breed’s charm, energy, and unwavering loyalty. Delilah hailed from esteemed breeders Carrie and Richard Snavely of High Mountain Smooth Fox Terriers, with lineage ties to our sister & brother in-law Kareen & Jeffrey Buckner of Eight Mile Ranch Colorado in Cañon City.

This personal connection ignited our journey, drawing on years of hands-on experience in dog handling and a lifelong devotion to terriers. Inspired by the breed’s boundless enthusiasm and affectionate demeanor, we established Blue Moon to continue this legacy through ethical, informed breeding.
